Nelson-based musicians Sarah Orton, Alissa Arnason, and Mr.Dr.Brotherman are bringing their curation of timeless music through the Kootenays as part of Sarah Orton’s Solo Tour sponsored by the Columbia Basin Trust and CKCA.
Having just released her new single “You” via World Peach Records, the established singer from Penny Shades (The Metre Maids, & Moontricks) is embarking on a string of fall solo dates sharing original songs of soulful melodies and dynamic energy, many inspired by her Doukhobor heritage, paired witih her electric guitar. Known for her dynamic range and energy, it’s a performance you’ll want to sit back with your eyes closed carefully listening to.
Supporting Orton will be Alissa on vocal harmonies, and opening acts from each artist as they take you on a journey weaving through delicate stories of their past delivered with soul and raw grit.

A self-confessed working-class Patsy Cline, but a bit more ethereal. Influenced by the landscape of the stark prairies she originated from, Alissa Arnason offers a haunting, timeless performance of country inspired folk songs. She brings with her a collection of released and unreleased songs, each crafted amidst emotional experiences of scorpionic depth, with themes ranging from romanticized weather patterns to heartbreak, her stories weave between light and dark, love and loss.
